WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN THE MONKEY HOUSE?
INTERCLUB DAY
On Sunday 7th June it's our Interclub Day. We'll have approximately 10 of our lovely volunteer ride leaders taking groups out on our favourite roads, at speeds varying from 12-18mph. If you have a club jersey now is the time to wear it - be it a Gorilla jersey, or that of another club you ride with ( don't worry if you haven't got any club kit, just come as you are). No need to sign up at the website on Sunday, just come along on the day for a paper sign on, and if you wish, a voluntary donation to our charity of the year CALM ( we'll have a card machine). Meet 8.45am outside the Hare & Hounds on York Road, Kings Heath for a departure 9-9.15am. Rides will be different lengths, but that will be explained on the day - most will be road rides, but we will have an off road ride heading out, and a vintage bike ride going out as well ( if that's how you roll). When everyone is back at the H&H ( by 11.30-12ish) the bar will be open for you to buy drinks and food, and we will hold a raffle ( if you have any raffle prizes bring them down on the day or DM me and we can sort collection) to try and raise further funds for CALM.
Everyone is welcome, so come on down and say hi.
GORILLA ENDURANCE
It was Neil Cocklin’s turn to ride 600km this week - a massive 605km ( with nearly 7000m of climbing) as part of his Wells Tour DIY Audax.
John Pears started a 500km off road Ultra MTB event last Thursday, but i've no idea how that went...any updates gratefuly received.
Well done both of you for even thinking about such bonkers achievements.
KOM's and QOMs
With Paul Astin leading the fastest ever Gorilla group ride coming in at an average of 37.5kph for over 50km there are quite a few Strava crowns this week:
