GORILLA TEAM TIME TRIAL

Event Dates: Thursday 21st – Monday 25th May

Location: Earlswood / Hockley Heath (Broad Lane course) - #43 in Gorilla route book ( the TdG20 ITT route).

Format: 4 rider Team Time Trial

Distance: 10 miles

The Gorilla CC Team Time Trial is designed to maximise participation, inclusion, and teambuilding, while keeping the competition meaningful and unpredictable. Outcomes should not be obvious at the outset, and teams are encouraged to think creatively when forming squads.

Team Composition

· Teams consist of 4 riders

· Teams may be mixed gender or single gender

· There is no restriction on age or ability combinations

Time Taken

· The team’ time is taken on the 3rd rider across the line

· Riders may drop, but only one rider may be dropped without penalty

Rider Ability Bands

Each rider must self select one ability band when entering. This system replaces the use of historic Strava times or formal TT results.

Each team receives a time handicap, calculated as the sum of the four riders handicaps.

Band Description Typical solo 10mile pace Handicap

A Very strong TT riders ~24+ mph 0

B Strong TT riders ~22-24 mph 45 seconds

C Strong club riders ~20-22 mph 90 seconds

D Fast club riders ~18-20 mph 135 seconds

E Regular club riders ~16-18 mph 180 seconds

F Newer riders ~16 mph (or less) 225 seconds

Team Handicap = A + B + C + D riders

To actively encourage mixed teams, additional time bonuses apply:

Team composition Bonus applied

1 woman rider −20 sec

2 women riders −45 sec

3 or 4 women riders −75 sec

This bonus applies regardless of ability band.

Team Handicap = A + B + C + D riders

The team’ Adjusted Time is calculated as:

Adjusted Time = Actual Ride Time – Team Handicap – Bonuses

All results will be published as:

· Scratch Time

· Handicap

· Final Adjusted Time

Important notes:

· Riders are expected to band themselves honestly

· Event organisers reserve the right to query or adjust a banding where it is clearly inappropriate

· The aim is fair competition, not perfect scientific accuracy.

Route gpx, and sign up sheet are in the events section on the website . Have fun.
