WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN THE MONKEY HOUSE?
GORILLA ENDURANCE
This week there have been some exceptional feats of riding long distance:
James Brown rode the Solstice Sprint 1027km ( with over 10000m of climbing) ridden over 3 days, that took him 60 hours 18 minutes. Insane , but brilliant. Well done JB.
John Ramsden rode the Chase the Sun Northern edition - riding 322km in 1 day. Amazing stuff John, and Stuart Jones rode the 339km to Weston-super-Mare, AND BACK, in a day. Chapeau .
And of course Dr Sarah Ruggins, club favourite who came and gave a talk at the Hare & Hounds earlier in the year for us , SMASHED the record to become the fastest ever person to cycle the continent of Europe , beating the mens record by 3 days 32 minutes in a time of 13 days, 20 hours, 27 minutes for the 6042km journey.

Sam Lockyer, a local mountain biker, has produced a feature length documentary film called 'The Fastest Bicycle' which was directed by double BAFTA winner Michael B.Clifford. It is currently touring UK independent cinemas and doing really well.
'The Fastest Bicycle' tells the remarkable story of Sir Roger Bannister's grandson and his team's attempt to set a new land speed world record for a human powered vehicle at Battle Mountain, Nevada. Think 'Cool Runnings' meets 'F1: Drive to Survive' as the team face all kinds of challenges along the way.
You can view the trailer, synopsis and images from the film in the link below:https://iconictv.co.uk/thefastestbicycle/
There's a showing plus panel discussion with the film's editor James Watson at the MAC cinema on Sunday 12th July at 5.30pm. Tickets can be booked via the link below:https://macbirmingham.co.uk/cinema/the-fastest-bicycle-q-a
THURSDAY RIDES
As you can see from the photo, at present there is a RED WEATHER WARNING for when we are supposed to be riding on Thursday . As we do with ice, we have put the rides up anyway - 5 this week because of the 2 up TT mentioned above where a lot of ride leaders are hoping to race - and we will make a call on Thursday morning with the latest possible weather information. If the rides are cancelled we will call a drop in and ride, when you can ride at your own risk with like minded individuals. All details are on the website.
Ride safe
