GORILLA TRAVELS

John Pears is , at present, riding the Transcontinental - a self supported race across Europe , starting from Santiago di Compostella - over 5000km with a ridiculous amount of climbing ( including some epic Alpine climbs that the pros do in the tour..) . As i write this he's 4 days in:

Day 1 408km 5200m of climbing - moving time 19 hours 37 mins

Day 2 307km 4087m of climbing - moving time 16 hours 5 mins ( started at 4am , finished at 1am - 2 punctures

Day 3 275km over 3500 of climbing - moving time 11 hours - 6 punctures!!

No wonder he needs flowers on his handlebars.. John is no 57 in TCR11 if you want to follow him via www.followmychallenge.com . If you are reading this mate, keep pushing, best of luck from all the Gorillas .

Other parts of the troop were also out and about over the weekend- Rob Anderson, John Ramsden, Lee Tandy, Lee Allgood, Iain Davie and Bruno rode The Rebellion Way - a 250 mile ( all terrain - 45% off road) route around Norfolk - but we took 3 days and slept in hotels!

And Stuart John Bulloch, James Brown, Graeme, Phil and Andy Iles rode Great Dun Fell - 120km, with 2650m of steep climbing !

Well done to all.

GORILLA RACING

Paul Astin and Jack Morrie Evans both raced the BMC k1/25 at the weekend, with Paul coming first in 60.01 - a second over the hour mark, after getting held up by a tractor! Jack cam in 2nd , 48 seconds behind him.

Paul, Jack and this time Phil as well, also raced the Beacon Roads Cycling Club 10 mile on Tuesday - this time Paul was 2nd in 23;50, Jack 3rd in 24;18 and Phil 5th in 27;06.

Great racing fellas.
