Solihull Circuit Race - April

Kyle Houston was leading the break in the Solihull circuit race on Sunday, but in the end had to settle for a creditable second place.


TOUR OF MALTA - April

Gabriella Nordin came 3rd overall in the Tour of Malta.

The first stage was a 15km TT, Gabriella's first for 3 years, where the 47kg rider put out 208w to finish 5th on the stage. Stage 2 was 6 laps of the Sam Martin 8.5km circuit where Gabriella got away in the break with 2 others and moved up to 3rd on GC. The final stage was a flat 53km out and back route which was raced hard (an average of 31.5kph over 100 minutes.), and Gabriella went long in the sprint to take 4th overall and maintain her 3rd place on the podium.


Spring TT - May

A number of people managed to take on our Strava timed 17.3km hilly TT route in homage to the Giro over the weekend, in wet and windy conditions. Your winners were:

Solihull Cycling Club 2 up memorial TT - july

Paul Astin and Phil Hood (pictured) won the over 100 category with a time of 25:26, and Stuart John Bulloch and Graeme Garrett won the over 80 category with a time of 24;05 on the k36/10 course.

Gorilla Hill Climb - October

Sebastien Moreau-Hutchins won the men's competition with a time of 2:14

Kelly Baker won the women’s competition with a time of 3:14.

Most improved man was Giorgio Clarioni taking a whopping 1:23 of his time from last year, coming in 3rd this time with a time of 2:20. Honorable mentions must also go to Adam Maclean who took 39 seconds off last years time and got a PR of 2:48, and James Barber who took 26 seconds off his time to clock a PR just under 3 minutes.

Most improved women was Rachel Brown who took 37 seconds off her time from last year in clocking a new PR of 3:19.

Special mentions must go to Graeme Garret who rode the segment on a Beryl Bike, and Oliver Agar who put out a massive 760 watt average over the course!


west Midlands CX league - september to December

Club Awards 2022 - November

We had the awards and 6th Birthday Party on Friday night at Gorilla Brindley Place, followed by an after party on the Bank dancefloor (led by Freddie Middleton ). We had a good turn out, despite the World Cup getting in the way, to celebrate this amazing club.

For prosperity the winners were:
Riders Rider - Steve Lawson voted for by you the members for his Cancer journey both on and off the bike.

Club Achievement - Interclub Charity Day, which has so far raised over £1150, and got 10 different clubs from across the city all riding together.
Spirit of Gorilla - Stuart John Bulloch for organising the trip to Girona , where 31 club members descended for a weekend of cycling and merriment.
Epic Ride - Neil Cocklin and James Brown for their 605km 25 hour AAA Audax ride.
Most Led Rides - Rob Anderson with 42 led rides in a year!
Best photo -The Girona photo, which you can now see has replaced Fitter in our Facebook banner.
Most Embarrassing moment - Richard Bates for wearing his bibs inside out for half a club ride.
