WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN THE MONKEY HOUSE?
GORILLA'S GRAND DAY OUT
The next club event is on Saturday 28th June - Gorilla's Grand Day out - our own 200km audax organised by Neil Cocklin, with help this year from Eugene Vichare . All details are on the events section of our website for this members only event . The £10 cost covers the cost of pre-ride coffee and pastry from van in York rd at 7-7.30am, your brevet card, a embroidered patch for those that complete the course, and a finishing BBQ and drink ( the club is covering any excess costs incurred to keep this event as accessible as possible).
July's club event is the INTERCLUB DAY on Sunday 13th July . This is a free event open for everyone, so tell your friends. We will have led rides both on and off road at accessible speeds. There will be the usual cycling bric-a-brac stall ( so start sorting out your unwanted items), a raffle and an auction with all proceeds going to our chosen charity of the year.
GORILLA RACING
Paul Astin and Phil Hood having been ripping up the K1/10 TT route over the last couple of Tuesdays, with Paul taking the win 2 weeks ago in 23;45 , and 2nd last week with an even faster time of 23;13! Phil's best time was a very solid 26;40 , and best place ( so far) was 5th - great racing guys.
Rob Garratt and Joe Walker raced the Tudor Grange Crit a couple of weeks ago - as it was mixed categories , and this was their first race, they got spat out the back, but managed to hang in there for a very respectable first attempt. I believe Arlando was also racing that day. Chapeau lads.
Bruno and Rachel Brown were at the MEDIGAMES - World Medical and Health Games last week in Loret de Mar . Bruno came 2nd in the TT, and took bronze in the 4 stage GC in his old man's age group, whilst Rach took silver in the GC , but smashed the triathlon beating all other competitors in the sprint distance. Well done us!
Don't forget this Thursday is the Solihull Cycling Club charity Tony Satterthwaite 2 up Time Trial on Thursday. Sign on is 6.15-6.45pm at the Bulls Head in Earlswood. It's £10/pair to charity to enter (you'll need to sort your pairings before you go), and don't forget your lights. Full details at www.solihullcc.org.uk/tony-s-memorial-2up-ttt .We have a couple of club rides heading down to the start if you don't know where to go.
