WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN THE MONKEY HOUSE?
On Friday we had our AGM and awards - full details of that are in a separate blog.
GORILLA RACING
Paul Astin, Rachel Brown, Phil Hood and Bruno all raced the BMC charity Ride for James TT in aid of Wheels for All on Sunday. Paul came 4th overall, and first roadbike ( despite being held up by traffic near the end). Rachel was 2nd female, in a cracking time of 27;45. Phil did well to get round after his gear cable snapped on the way over, so he only had 2 gears ( 1 in the big ring, and 1 in the little ring). But the main thing is that money was raised for a great cause.
QOM
The only Strava crowns I saw this week was for Sarah Sprittles when she took 3 QOMs and 7 cups on her first Thursday morning Gravel Club ride.
GORILLA ZWIFT
This weeks Gorilla Zwift on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm is already up and available to book on via the Zwift Companion app - just head to Clubs - Gorilla Cycling Club - Events. There you'll find Eugene Vichare has set up a 28.4km route on the new New York Green to Screen circuit. The band is on - he's double checked - so everyone will stay together this week.
THURSDAY RIDES
The Thursday rides are up for you to book onto at the website . If it's your first time use the coupon code FREERIDE25 to get a weeks free trial. This week we have:
Helen Pike is leading a 13-15mph ride for those who want to try riding in a group for the first time, without the pressure of speed.
Stuart John Bulloch 16-17mph, and David Morton 17-18mph rides have already sold out...
and Graeme is leading an 18-19mph ride up Fiery hill, then back along the Bristol road.
We are aware that it is likely to get colder as the week gets on, so we are monitoring the weather. We will make a final call on the Thursday rides on Thursday morning, using the most upto date weather forcasts. If they tell us that the temperature is likely to be below 2 degrees, we will call off all the club rides. If you still wish to ride ( or just go down the pub to meet up with some mates) , then you can sort out via our Whats app community
Also on the website now is a Mountain Bike ride led by Rob Garratt - meeting at 9.30am at Walton Hill car park for a 10 mile enduro style ride. Book on via the usual booking system von the website, but final details will be advised in the MTB group in out Whats app community .
See you in a virtual New York on Wednesday.
Ride safe
